University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit an Assistant Professor in Applied Linguistics and ELT in School of Education and English.About the RoleThe School of Education and English is now looking for an ambitious, talented, and experienced academic with a passion for teaching and a well-developed research profile to join its team of scholars in the field of Applied Linguistics, with special emphasis on quantitative analysis and language acquisition. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching, curriculum development and supervision within the undergraduate English and Applied Linguistics programme as well as the following PGT programmes: MA in Applied Linguistics and MA TESOL. There will also be opportunities to provide supervision for our growing numbers of PhD and EdD students. The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role in collaborative research projects, as well as conducting original research of their own that results in presentations and publications of a high international standing in relevant and recognised areas of applied linguistics and ELT.About YouCandidates must have completed a doctoral degree in applied linguistics or a closely related field, have recent experience of teaching across a range of undergraduate and MA modules, and experience of successfully supervising PGT (Master’s) and PhD students. Knowledge of and experience with quantitative research methods is a must, and experience with AI in language acquisition and language assessment practices are highly desirable. Lancaster University is seeking a detail oriented and proactive Application Security Engineer to join the IT Security Team within Information Systems Services. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to strategic and operational technology initiatives that support teaching, research, the student experience, and the effective running of the University.As an Application Security Engineer, you will play a central role in strengthening the security of applications and integrations used across the University by embedding security into how software is designed, built, and operated. You will work closely with development, platform, and delivery teams across a diverse range of technologies and environments. Because of this, you will draw on real world experience to understand how applications are developed and used in practice, helping teams improve security in ways that are pragmatic, proportionate, and sustainable. You will be responsible for identifying and reducing security risk across the full application lifecycle, covering both long running production services and newly developed solutions. This includes defining and maintaining application security standards, advising on secure design and architecture, and supporting the effective use of security tooling and processes. The role spans a broad application landscape including web and mobile applications, APIs, and microservices, and applies DevSecOps principles to ensure security is considered early and consistently.A key focus of the role is supporting the University’s cloud enablement programme. You will help ensure that cloud-based architectures, services, and deployments are designed and implemented securely, while recognising the realities of operating live services and the need to balance security, usability, and delivery.The successful candidate will bring a pragmatic, experience led approach to application security. We are looking for a Research Technician to support our research studies exploring how a ubiquitin ligase contributes to DNA replication stress and repair. The position is funded by an Academy of Medical Sciences grant awarded to Dr. Panagiotis Kotsantis, and is available for 24 months. This role involves supporting studies in DNA replication stress response signalling, including:Generate and characterise engineered cell lines with inducible gene expression, gene depletion, and targeted genetic modifications, including domain deletions and site-directed mutations.Investigate cellular responses to DNA damage and replication stress using a range of molecular and cell biology approaches, including immunofluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting, DNA fibre assays, and micronucleus analysis.Examine protein localisation and chromatin-associated dynamics at sites of DNA replication and genome maintenance using advanced imaging and proteomic techniques.Characterise protein–protein and protein–nucleic acid interactions through biochemical and proximity-based assays, including immunoprecipitation and proximity ligation assays.Identify and analyse interaction networks and candidate substrates of a target pathway regulator using mass spectrometry-based proteomics.Role responsibilitiesAs part of a friendly and collaborative team, you will be responsible for:Preparing and conducting experiments including engineered cell line generation, DNA damage response analysis, protein interaction and localisation studies, and proteomic identification of molecular interaction networks.Data acquisition and management, and contributing to analysis and reportingSupporting day-to-day lab operations, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, record keeping, and assisting with regulatory documentationProviding technical training to students and other lab membersAbout youWe are keen to hear from candidates who have:Bachelor’s degree in biomedicine, biomedical sciences, biochemistry or a related discipline.Experience of supporting biomedical related studies, including responsibilities such as mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, DNA cloning, molecular biology techniques and data analysis using GraphPad-Prism and ImageJ.Strong organisational and administrative skills, including inventory management, maintaining accurate records, and report writing.A proactive approach to problem-solving and technical troubleshooting, with the confidence to take initiative and work independentlyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach Experience with the DNA fibre assay is desirable but not essential. Division of Health ResearchGrade 6 - Part-Time (0.50 FTE – 18.25 hours)The National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast (NIHR ARC NWC) is a research initiative designed to support applied health and care research across the North West Coast region, with a focus on reducing health inequalities, knowledge mobilisation and translating evidence into practice. The Community Research Officer role will involve facilitating engagement with Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) organisations across the North West Coast region to build a Network of research-active VSFSE organisations and research-ready communities. Based within the public involvement and engagement team, the Officer will ensure the delivery of the Community Research and Engagement Network (CoREN) objectives and support the commissioning and delivery of research by CoREN members.You will have experience and knowledge of the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector. You must also be able to manage study documentation and excellent report writing skills. You will also have evidence of problem-solving skills and organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise work and navigate time management, with excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbally and in writing.Educated to first degree level or equivalent in a discipline related to health research, you will be computer literate and experienced with basic software packages (Excel, Word), with experience of developing, maintaining and producing information from databases.
