About the Role & Team:We are looking for an experienced and customer focused Facilities Team Leader to join our team at Jubilee Park Campus. Main duties will include organising and supervising the Building Attendant and Cleaning Teams, inspecting the infrastructure of the buildings, reporting maintenance issues and setting up meeting rooms ensuring adequate supplies of consumables are available for teaching and conferences.You will also lock and unlock designated areas of the buildings within your area of responsibility issuing and receiving keys from staff and contractors ensuring relevant policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. A large part of this role includes being the first point of contact for visitors to the area which includes dealing with large numbers of enquiries face to face, by phone and by e-mail ensuring excellent customer service is always achieved. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleaning standards within the area and will induct, train and supervise the cleaning team carrying out appraisal conversations as required.Candidates should have experience of working in a similar customer facing environment and have relevant cleaning experience. A Research Technician position is available in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital. This is a newly constructed, dedicated research building that is the result of a significant fund-raising campaign. It builds on a 40 year history of pioneering immunology and cancer research at Southampton, and represents the first dedicated cancer immunology centre in the UK. The activities in this centre span from pioneering discovery science to applied research and preclinical modelling and, crucially, onto first-in-human clinical trials and beyond. The centre houses world-class research facilities, including state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and a clinical trials unit.The position is associated with the laboratory of Professors Ward and Ober. Their interdisciplinary research program is dedicated to the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and autoimmunity. This research has led to several therapeutics that are currently in advanced clinical trials or approved for clinical use. The group also develops advanced microscopy techniques for the evaluation of novel therapeutics in cellular environments. Their research is supported by major grants from the Welcome Trust, Cancer Research UK and support from collaborating biopharma companies.The appointee will be highly motivated and excited by the challenges involved in supporting a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of researchers. The appointee’s role will be to provide support with the day-to-day running of the laboratory by providing technical support for the experimental work of post-doctoral fellows, research scientists and graduate students, combined with the ordering and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and supplies. The position holder will be expected to be familiar with biosafety and other regulatory processes and follow these procedures as necessary.It is essential to have a skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. The role requires the ability to plan and organise your workload, work well under pressure and communicate effectively and professionally with other laboratory members. A scientific knowledge in a biological field equivalent to B.Sc. level is extremely desirable.The post-holder will possess relevant academic qualifications and work experience as well as good IT skills.The position is for one year. The unit supports researchers across the UK and internationally to help design, conduct, analyse and disseminate clinical trials and observational studies that target important clinical and social health care questions.The roleThe unit is seeking to employ a senior medical statistician with experience of working on clinical trials in a regulated environment. The post is covering maternity leave, and will have responsibilities for delivering the urological cancer portfolio, which includes two large phase 3 trials in bladder and prostate cancer. You will work with junior statisticians and statistical programmers to oversee delivery of trial reports. You will plan work and communicate with the Head of Group in Statistics to support management of workload across the team. You will lead communication with chief investigators and the wider trial team on methodological issues, and more broadly support the SCTU to deliver the assigned trials.The role requires knowledge of the application of statistical methods to cancer trials, as well as activities relating to obtaining funding and dissemination of study results. Familiarity with statistical software such as Stata, SAS and/or R is essential.
