Postgraduate Teaching Assistant (PGTA) (Part-time, Fixed term, Multiple positions)

Job Description:
Applications are invited for the above post, based within the Nottingham School of Economics. The purpose of the PGTA role is to support teaching and learning in our modules, working with the academic module convenor(s).
The role relates to 200 hours employment, typically consisting of 70 hours tutorial contact and 20 office hours contact (i.e. approx. 9 hours per week for 10 weeks - semester 1 only), plus 30 hours of associated preparation time, and up to 80 hours of marking and administration. Each tutorial is usually delivered a number of times to small groups of students.
PGTA roles are open to PGR students who will progress to year 1 from our MRes programme and students who are currently on the PhD programme and successfully progress to their next year.
To apply for a PGTA role you need to complete 2 forms: a School of Economics form (Form A) to be completed by 15th May 2026, and a University application form which you can complete later in the summer.
1. Complete the School of Economics⯠Form A which requests information on you as well as the modules that are you interested in and able to contribute to, as well as some information that relates to the rules around hours of work for PGR students.
2. Complete the University Application Form for which you will need to submit your CV on the University’s system. This allows the University to process your contract of employment. Please note that you will receive a link from the School via your PGR university email address for this later in the summer period - expected to be July/August.
Any teaching will be delivered face to face and PGTAs are expected to be able to commit to be present on campus during the terms for which teaching is allocated. â¯
