About the role
We are seeking an appropriately qualified, experienced and committed individual to lead our team of student safeguarding practitioners and cross-University Safeguarding Leads, working closely with the Director of Student Experience (University Designated Safeguarding Lead).
The purpose of the role is to ensure appropriate management of, and response to, safeguarding matters (including Prevent concerns) as they relate to the student community. You will oversee case management and effective response to incidents and concerns reported through the University’s “Report and Support” and safeguarding systems. You are also responsible for delivering training and for maintaining the University’s Safeguarding Policy and related procedures. There may also be a requirement to support the response to critical incidents and situations such as the serious injury or death of a student.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution and externally, to ensure university systems are robust and that support is put in place for all members of the University who are impacted by issues.
About you
With a relevant professional qualification, such as Registered Social Worker, you will have strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks that apply to safeguarding, harassment and equality in a higher education setting.
You will have demonstrable understanding and experience of managing and supervising response to safeguarding incidents, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in responding to people in distress and difficulty. You will also have strong networking skills and ability to build positive relationships with staff across the institution to ensure an effective and co-ordinated safeguarding framework.
This is a permanent, full-time post of 36.25 hours per week. This role is based on University Park campus and will be offered on a hybrid basis working. Typically, you will be expected to work at least three days per week on campus. However, you will be expected to work flexibly as the role demands and be on site when required. You will also be work out of hours on occasion.
