Lancaster University, in collaboration with the Universities of Liverpool, Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan, hosts one of the eight National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) centres. This national initiative provides seamless access to research support, advice, design and collaboration from preâgrant through to postâgrant stages for researchers working across the NIHR remit in England. The centre is also designated as a national NIHR RSS Specialist Centre for Social Care.
We are offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to our service developments through the role of Service Coâordinator. This busy and varied position will help shape our administrative structures and processes, working closely within the Central Coâordinating team and with RSS centres nationally. You will play a key role in delivering operational excellence across all service activities and workstreams by coordinating highâquality administrative support. This includes managing clientâfacing activities and events and supporting our public contributors and public involvement work.
We are looking for someone who enjoys handling a wide range of enquiries on a dayâtoâday basis and acting as the first point of contact for our service. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills to support meetings and help plan and organise events (both faceâtoâface and online). They will also excel at maintaining accurate records and ensuring precise, reliable service data. You must be able to demonstrate experience of working in an administrative role able to manage administrative processes.

The post is available for immediate start, and we will consider against the business needs of the project flexible working arrangements including condensed hours, days/hours worked and flexible start and finish times. Some remote working will be considered but attendance at the University Campus will be required on an agreed basis. You will join Lancaster University on an indefinite contract which at this time is due to come to an end on 30th September 2028 due to external funding.
