Job Description:
We are seeking to appoint a part-time Teaching Fellow to contribute to teaching in Sociology of Education and/or Critical Studies in Education within the Southampton Education School. This post provides teaching cover, ensuring the continuation of high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
About the Role
The successful candidate will support the delivery, development and assessment of teaching and learning. This will include contributing to lectures, seminars and tutorials, setting and marking assessments, and providing feedback to students. The postholder will also act as a Personal Academic Tutor and may supervise and assess postgraduate dissertations.
You will contribute to curriculum delivery and enhancement, working collaboratively with colleagues to support an inclusive and research-informed learning environment.
About You
You will have (or be close to completing) a PhD in Education, Sociology or a closely related discipline, alongside experience of teaching in higher education.
You should demonstrate:
- Subject knowledge in Sociology of Education and/or Critical Studies in Education
- Experience of delivering engaging and inclusive teaching at UG and/or PGT levels
- Experience in assessment and providing feedback to students at UG and/or PGT levels
- Experience of supporting students, through personal tutoring or postgraduate supervision
- Ability to contribute to curriculum development and enhancement at UG and/or PGT levels
Experience of engagement with scholarship of teaching and learning would be advantageous.
