Job Description:
Are you looking for a role that underpins world-leading research and teaching, and gives you the chance to make a positive difference to the delivery of our services? To support our continued success, we are looking for a Senior Operations Officer in the School of Geography, who will work flexibly as part of an integrated team to support the delivery and continuous improvement primarily of core operations, with some support of research and knowledge exchange (RKE) as required.
The role will demand the development and application of specialist knowledge and involve proactively planning and coordinating your work. You will operate with limited direct supervision and therefore be required to use your initiative, take personal responsibility, and think analytically and creatively to solve problems. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships and work collaboratively. You will:
§ Deliver the School’s purchasing and procurement processes across all activities, ensuring compliance with University policies and guidance.
§ Coordinate and support the recruitment of research assistants, postgraduate teaching assistants (PGTAs), student helpers and other contingent workers, ensuring compliance with University policies and processes.
§ Coordinate and support the School’s processes related to general office administration, such as reception duties, office supplies stocks, mail processing, etc.
§ Provide specialist support, advice, and guidance on a broad range of key operational and RKE functions.
§ Work flexibly across the operational team, ensuring peak periods are accommodated, and services are able to flex with changing demand.
§ Provide high-level administrative and operational support to relevant members of the School’s senior leadership team.
§ Act as Secretary contributing to the management of business through the School’s Senior Management Committee and regular staff meetings.
