    Job Description:

    Applications are invited for a Senior Research Fellow position (0.8FTE) within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The project will involve the development of an innovative new multiparametric sensor technology to monitor the microbial properties of cattle rumen. The ultimate aim is to design, test and deploy the sensor bolus to measure and reduce methane emissions from cattle.

    The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience in a relevant physical/engineering science. The candidates must possess detailed knowledge and experience in miniature electrochemical sensor design, fabrication and testing.

    We are looking for a self-motivated person, able to organise their own research activities effectively, and collaborate successfully across disciplines. The successful candidate will be a good communicator and will be expected to take the lead in preparing reports, presenting results to the consortium and writing research papers. You must also be able to work effectively in a team and organize time, tasks and responsibilities with other team members.
