Job Description:
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join Disability Support Services as a full-time Disability Adviser.
You will work alongside a team of professionals to provide a point of contact, information and support for: disabled students, students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, mental health difficulties and students with long-term health conditions.
You will enjoy the busy and dynamic environment of the Disability Support Services team, working and collaborating with Study Support Tutors, Senior Administrator colleagues and an in-house Support Worker Service.â¯

â¯You will have:â¯â¯
· Knowledge and understanding of a range of disabilities and their impact upon study in Higher Educationâ¯
· A degree, plus some hands-on experience in similar or related rolesâ¯OR proven track record of extensive relevant work experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical knowledge of a specific / specialised field of work.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.â¯â¯
· Good IT skills, with some knowledge of assistive technology.â¯â¯â¯
· Ability to work appropriately with sensitive information, following established procedures.â¯â¯
· Ability to prioritise and effectively plan a busy workload, with minimum day to day supervision.â¯â¯
What you will do:â¯
· Assess the practical requirements and study needs of students, both current and potential, in order to make recommendations concerning reasonable adjustments to Academic Schools and Departments.â¯
· Provide information and advice concerning all aspects of accessibility provision to potential students prior to their admission to University and contribute to University pre arrival information.â¯
· Liaise with Academic Schools to communicate adjustments and advise on complex individual cases, in consultation with role holder’s line manager.â¯â¯
· Advise students on accessing Disabled Students' Allowances.â¯â¯
· Keep careful records of actions, agreements and decisions in accordance with procedures.⯠â¯
Where and how you’ll work:â¯
This role is a full-time opportunity. Working hours are 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. ⯠We offer a hybrid working arrangement with the blended approach of home and office workingâ¯in the working week.â¯You will be based at our University Park site and your workâ¯may involve working across different campuses.⯠â¯â¯
