Do you have a good understanding of databases and spreadsheets? Would you like to support the Finance Shared Services team with delivering transactional services i.e. raising purchase orders, good receipting? If yes then this part time, fixed term role may be of interest.
Working as part of the Finance Shared Services team with a focus on services to both Academic Schools and Professional Services Departments, the University of Kent is seeking a Finance Administrator who will effect financial transactions and perform finance operations activities across key functional areas.
The postholder will work under the supervision of a Finance Officer and will collaborate with contacts in Schools, PSDs and with colleagues/service leads in the FSS team to deliver services in areas including Travel, Procurement, Scholarships, expense claims, virements and journals, monitoring and reconciliation of budgets, and month/year-end work.
As a Finance Administrator you can expect to be involved in:
- Providing transactional support to Schools and PSD's, in close liaison with the Finance Officer, other staff in FSS, relevant Business Partners in Finance, ensuring that service requirements are professionally and efficiently delivered while complying with University and other financial regulations
- Effectively deliver transactional services in the raising of purchase orders, goods receipting, non-POP supplier invoice approvals, credit card purchases and staff expense claims
- Supporting Finance Officers with the month-end/year-end processes, in collaboration with the relevant Finance Business Partners and other Finance colleagues, ensuring the accurate and timely recording, coding, accounting for/reporting of all transactions
What will you bring to the role?
- GCSE English and Maths (grade C/4 or above) and Foundation level financial qualification (e.g. AAT) and actively studying towards full qualification, or willingness to undertake such studies or equivalent
- IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office packages and a good understanding of databases and spreadsheets
- Customer focused approach to work with the ability to deliver a high level of customer service
