    Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join the University of Canterbury Health Centre as a Health Care Assistant – Administrative.

    In this important role, you will support the delivery of high-quality primary healthcare by managing the Health Centre's clinical recall and results follow-up systems. You will help ensure patients receive timely reminders and appointments for immunisations, screening programmes, long-term condition management and preventative healthcare, while supporting clinicians to deliver excellent patient care.

    Your responsibilities will include managing recalls in Medtech Evolution, coordinating patient communications by phone, SMS, email and mail, booking appointments, maintaining accurate patient records, supporting quality reporting and audits, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Your work will play a vital role in improving health outcomes and helping the Health Centre meet national clinical performance indicators.

    You are a highly organised administrator with excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to providing outstanding patient service. You enjoy working collaboratively, can confidently manage competing priorities, and understand the importance of confidentiality and accuracy in a healthcare environment.

    To be successful in this role you will have:

    • 3–5 years' administrative experience, preferably within a New Zealand general practice or primary care environment
    • excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel
    • exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record management
    • the ability to prioritise work, manage competing deadlines and work independently
    • an understanding of patient confidentiality, privacy legislation and the Health Information Privacy Code.

    Ideally, you will also bring:

    • experience using Medtech Evolution, including recalls, inbox management and patient record coding
    • knowledge of PHO performance programmes and national screening pathways
    • familiarity with quality improvement processes within primary care

    Te Whare Hauora | Health Centre provides accessible, high-quality healthcare to the University of Canterbury community. Reporting to the Lead Nurse and working closely with the Medical Director, GPs, nurses and the wider clinical team, you will play an integral role in supporting proactive patient care and ensuring smooth day-to-day administrative operations.
