Should you join us, you will be employed by LASE but will work as part of the University of Kent academic division, contributing to its distinct strengths, community and identity while also being part of a wider group that brings together the scale, resilience and shared ambition of both universities. Are you an experienced Business Analyst who enjoys turning complex stakeholder needs into practical technical solutions?

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the HEAT system, a nationally recognised service that supports the higher education sector. Working with colleagues, members and technical consultants, you will help define the requirements for a major system rebuild, ensuring user needs are translated into clear, achievable technical specifications that support future development.

You'll work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, balancing technical feasibility with user expectations and communicating complex concepts in a way that enables informed decision-making. Your work will directly contribute to the production of the agreed system rebuild specification, helping to ensure the HEAT service continues to meet the evolving needs of its members.

As Business Analyst you can expect to be involved in:

    • Interpreting user needs and consultation feedback to produce clear functional requirements and system specifications that meet HEAT’s business objectives
    • Explaining technical concepts, constraints and options to non-technical stakeholders to support understanding and informed input
    • Collaborating with the HEAT Team, the Memberships, and technical consultants, to develop feasible solution options and articulate associated trade-offs (e.g. complexity, cost, usability)
    • Producing a comprehensive technical specification derived from user requirements to enable system development and procurement

What will you bring to the role?

    • Education to graduate level or equivalent experience
    • Experience applying business analysis techniques to define system or service requirements
    • Ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences
    • Experience working with non-technical stakeholders to gather and define requirements

What we can offer in return:

As a member of our team, you can expect a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing. You'll enjoy a range of great staff benefits including:

    • Hybrid working options allowing a flexible blend of office and home working (to be agreed in line with business needs)
    • 43 days' leave per year (personal leave, bank holidays and additional days allocated for the Christmas period, pro rata for part-time staff)
    • Excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions
    • Corporate employee-funded healthcare plan, in partnership with Benenden Health
