The Faculty of Medicine School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences, supported by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (HIOWH), wishes to appoint an Associate Professor / Senior Clinical Lecturer in General Psychiatry. The successful candidate will have previously won external funding, have a strong record of research and publication, and be expected to develop a programme of research with support from clinical and laboratory-based colleagues. They will have demonstrable potential to acquire further independent funding and be expected to gain external funding equivalent to around 50% of the salary beyond the first three years. They will contribute to academic leadership within the Faculty and Trust and enhance the quality of research, enterprise and teaching. They would undertake clinical and basic research in psychiatry, aligned with the research strategy of the Faculty, School and Trust, teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and undertake leadership, management and engagement activities across the two organisations. They would be able to make strategic judgements and contribute to the external profile of both the University and the Trust. The successful candidate will hold a primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC or equivalent organisation, have MRCPsych or an equivalent recognised qualification, a certificate of completed specialist training (or equivalent) in general psychiatry, and a PhD or DM or equivalent relevant higher degree.The University Department of Psychiatry pursues research in affective disorders, alcohol use disorders, behavioural addictions, dementia, psychopharmacology, neuroimaging and psychoneuroimmunology. There are vibrant partnerships with the School of Psychology on the Highfield Campus. There is an Academy of Research & Improvement at the Trust. This is a permanent, full-time role supporting efficient administration and coordination of Student Orientation and Transition activities.
Reporting to the Student Orientation and Transition Senior Manager, the position collaborates with AUT stakeholders including faculties, student services, AUTSA, and events in the planning and delivery of the University Transition Framework and experiences.
Key tasks include supporting the delivery of Orientation, transition engagement, cultural celebrations, and providing administrative support for the RUOK programme as the primary contact for RUOK Advisors.
All responsibilities enhance AUT’s reputation and foster a positive student experience.

Tertiary qualified to undergraduate level (Study in Event Management or Business very desirable)
Minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience
In depth knowledge of how students operate in a tertiary (university) setting, including first year study challenges and experiences
Sound knowledge of factors which influence student success and retention within a tertiary environment
Prior experience in event coordination including managing volunteers
Knowledge of a wide range cultural issues that impact on learning success
