We also operate the University’s impressive Outdoor facilities including Rugby Pitches, 3G surfaces, Tennis courts and much more. The Sports Centre is owned and managed by the University and is open to students across the UK, University staff and members of the local community. Sport Lancaster also proudly hosts several national events throughout the year. Our team pride themselves on their knowledge and experience in their chosen area and are always on hand to guide and advise. We aim to inspire our customers to be physically active by creating a community which enables them to grow stronger, fitter and most importantly, more confident. We cater for all abilities and our facilities are fully accessible to everyone. Your role will lead the day-to-day shifts within the Sport Lancaster Facilities. You will ensure safe and effective working practices are in place which are delivered to an exceptional level of customer standards. You will lead and motivate the recreation and reception teams in the delivery of the operational strategy. Your role will ensure safe and effective working practices are maintained and delivered to exceptional customer standards. You will also provide services and support for the University’s engagement and wellbeing strategy.Alongside your Fitness Instructor duties, this role offers the exciting opportunity to grow your Personal Training experience within the Sports Centre. The Tari Takawaeka Kura (Schools’ Liaison Office) is a team of 12 with offices in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin. We visit secondary schools all over New Zealand during Terms 1 and 2 each year to let senior students know about the opportunities for living and learning at Ōtākou. Then we return in Terms 3 and 4 to help students plan their studies.The role | Te mahiAs a Kaitakawaenga (Schools’ Liaison Officer) within Te Ringa Toroa (External Engagement Division), you will be instrumental in encouraging and helping secondary school students to enrol at the University, supporting them through the transition to tertiary studies.Alongside one other Liaison Officer and a Co-ordinator based in the Dunedin office, you will visit secondary schools across the Southland, Otago and Canterbury, informing intending students about all aspects of enrolment at Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka and about undergraduate student life in Dunedin. You will enjoy working with young people and have extensive experience in this area.Presenting to large groups of secondary school students in schools, as well as on a larger scale at Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka information evenings will appeal to you. You will regularly meet with intending students and their families, assisting them with their decision-making and helping them to plan the first year of their degree, as well as interacting with relevant university staff and departments on behalf of the wider Liaison team. You may have a background in teaching, career advising or counselling.Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheakoTo be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:• Relevant experience in advising, working with, and relating to teenagers and young adults of all cultures and the ability to work constructively and thoughtfully with them• Skill and enthusiasm for making effective, professional presentations to groups• A high level of writing, editing and proof-reading skills and the ability to learn and retain detailed information• A positive and collegial attitude, alongside excellent time management skills• Have a suitable knowledge and understanding of Te Reo Māori me ngā tikanga.Although not essential, you would ideally have an excellent knowledge of Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka and its courses, or the ability to quickly learn. With students at the very heart of all we do, we are looking for a Sugarhouse Manager as part of a strong and supportive wider team.The Sugarhouse is looking to recruit a highly motivated professional to join their team in the role of Sugarhouse Manager on a full-time contract. This role is a great opportunity to build on events experience, a step up for your career and to develop within the late-night and events economy.The Sugarhouse operates mainly during term time, although the role is year-round, delivering a minimum of two extremely busy student nights a week, plus additional evening and late-night events throughout the year. The Sugarhouse is the largest venue in Lancaster and the surrounding area, with a capacity of 1348 across two rooms we provide the biggest events for both students and the local community alike.We are looking for a team member who is passionate about delivering a consistent high standard of customer service and who can work in a high-pressure environment. You will need to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends.
