Research Fellow to join the Big Data in Health GroupAbout usThe Big Data in Health group at the University of Southampton is based in the Primary Care Research Centre. We aim to understand patterns, trends, and associations of diseases to inform preventive action in the UK and international contexts. Our group comprises a diverse, multidisciplinary team conducting high-quality, innovative research that addresses complex health and social care challenges of the 21st century. We employ traditional statistical and epidemiological methods, cutting-edge artificial intelligence algorithms, and qualitative research to provide a deeper understanding, insights, and applications. About the role In this role, you will join a successful interdisciplinary and mixed-methods team with extensive qualitative and quantitative expertise that conducts research to support people with multiple long-term conditions. The post holder will already be working in the field of multimorbidity. They will have good organisational and administrative skills. They will have excellent writing skills and be able to work independently to draft high-quality academic research papers and convey methodological results of findings through presentations using interactive visualisations.. This position is a unique opportunity to join an experienced, fast-paced and high-output research group, working closely with our supportive team to help deliver School for Primary Care Research (SPCR), National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) funded projects in populations with multiple long-term conditions.The post is offered full-time for 6 months and will be available starting in July. About the roleYou will play a role in supporting the management, coordinating, and delivering assessments across the undergraduate Veterinary modules. This includes ExamSys papers, Observed Structured Clinical and Practical assessments (OSPE/CEs), and coursework submissions. As part of the School’s Assessments Team, you will ensure that all administrative, logistical, and regulatory elements of assessment delivery are carefully planned and executed, supporting a fair, well-organised, and positive experience for students, academics, and examiners.Working closely with colleagues across the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science including academic teams, clinical skills staff, and professional services you will help ensure assessment processes are robust, compliant, and consistently delivered to a high standard. You will contribute to assessment activity across the undergraduate course, supporting both day-to-day operational delivery and the ongoing review and improvement of assessment practices.The role requires flexibility in working hours to support on-site examinations and provide hands-on operational oversight. The team will be four APM staff and is responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of assessments across the undergraduate programme. Our demanding assessment schedule within a dual cohort includes: 8,000 summative exams and 2,000 coursework submissions annually, 100 lab based practical exams and 300 vivas, administration of 4,200 OSCE and OSPE stations using live animals, models, and cadavers. Working closely with academic colleagues, external examiners, and invigilators.
