As Litter Picker you will keep external space and public areas of the campus clean and tidy. You will be responsible for litter picking and waste disposal and actively contributing to maintaining the high standards required to provide a clean and safe space for students, staff and visitors to the University.The shift pattern for this role is 20 hours per week, 12pm - 4pm.As Litter Picker you can expect to be involved in:Maintaining the external campus, ensuring it is clean and tidy. Undertaking litter picking, as well as emptying and cleaning of external bins and removal of chewing gum from pathways and external public spaces.Monitoring all external public areas of the Canterbury campus, reporting incidents and/or any vandalism or graffiti to Estates Customer Services additionally monitor external notice boards, removing any out-of-date posters/flyers/materials.Providing support for University events, including Open Days, Arrivals and Departure weekends, undertaking litter picking, removing rubbish from accommodation, monitoring external bins and keeping bin areas clean and tidy.What will you bring to the role?Good verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate clearly and to understand and follow verbal and written procedures.Good understanding of health and safety procedures and safe working practices.Flexible and willing to work additional hours to meet essential operational requirements to cover absence and events, as reasonably requested. About the roleYou will play a role in supporting the management, coordinating, and delivering assessments across the undergraduate Veterinary modules. This includes ExamSys papers, Observed Structured Clinical and Practical assessments (OSPE/CEs), and coursework submissions. As part of the School’s Assessments Team, you will ensure that all administrative, logistical, and regulatory elements of assessment delivery are carefully planned and executed, supporting a fair, well-organised, and positive experience for students, academics, and examiners.Working closely with colleagues across the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science including academic teams, clinical skills staff, and professional services you will help ensure assessment processes are robust, compliant, and consistently delivered to a high standard. You will contribute to assessment activity across the undergraduate course, supporting both day-to-day operational delivery and the ongoing review and improvement of assessment practices. The role requires flexibility in working hours to support on-site examinations and provide hands-on operational oversight. You will also be expected to work at Sutton Bonington Campus. The duties described provide a framework for the role but are not exhaustive. You may be asked to undertake other reasonable responsibilities appropriate to the grade and purpose of the post, and you will be expected to work flexibly to support Professional Services activity across the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science.About the TeamThe role sits within the delivery arm of the Assessments Team in at the University of Nottingham’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. The team will be four APM staff and is responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of assessments across the undergraduate programme. Our demanding assessment schedule within a dual cohort includes: 8,000 summative exams and 2,000 coursework submissions annually, 100 lab based practical exams and 300 vivas, administration of 4,200 OSCE and OSPE stations using live animals, models, and cadavers. Working closely with academic colleagues, external examiners, and invigilators.
