Would you like to join a team maintaining the external estate at the University of Leeds?You will have experience of working in a grounds maintenance environment. You will possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Joining a busy and growing team you will be a key part of a team making sure that the external estate is attractive, well maintained and reflects well on the University. Your team contributes to the University by undertaking varied support activities including external maintenance activities and supporting the set up of events across the University. You will be able to undertake significant levels of manual handling and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. An interest in horticulture would be an advantage however full training will be provided. Grounds and Gardens staff are required to provide a flexible service, working as necessary to meet the needs of the University, this would normally equate to a 35 hour working week, 5 days over 7. Your normal working times will be 7.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday working on average 1 Saturday in 4; however flexibility is particularly required due to seasonal variations, customer requirements and University events e.g. open days, large conferences and degree ceremonies. Overview of the projectWe are seeking to appoint a (Senior) Post-doctoral Research Associate for the Lancaster ATLAS group starting from the first of July 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Lancaster ATLAS group is composed of five academic staff, with associated Ph.D. students, supported by postdoctoral researchers. It is active on data analysis in the Standard Model, Higgs, Top, and B-Physics and light states working groups, as well as making major contributions to ATLAS Computing and Data Preparation activities. You are expected to play a key role in precision measurements in top quark or single vector boson production final states together with Lancaster Ph.D. students. In parallel, you are expected to participate in computing or data preparation activities, as well as combined performance studies appropriate to the analysis work. Role responsibilitiesAs part of our ATLAS group, your duties will include: Analysis of data from the ATLAS experimentStudies for an ATLAS Combined performance group and technical work in the ATLAS Computing or Data Preparation areas.Supporting supervision of Lancaster Ph.D. students working on the ATLAS experiment. Supervising or co-supervising summer and/or undergraduate projects working with the Lancaster ATLAS group.
