If so this role could be ideal.We’re looking for a bright and enthusiastic Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join Professor Neil Kad’s lab at the University of Kent. This BBSRC-funded interdisciplinary project will use state-of-the-art single molecule imaging techniques to explore how muscle is activated and relaxed, generating insights relevant to both normal and diseased muscle function.Working with partners in the UK and overseas, including the University of Washington and the University of Kentucky, you’ll use approaches spanning protein biochemistry, single molecule biochemistry and high-resolution imaging. You’ll be supported by a well-equipped lab with dedicated microscopes for single molecule fluorescence imaging, alongside shared School of Biosciences facilities including NMR, Mass Spectrometry, cell biology and super-resolution imaging.As Postdoctoral Research Associate you can expect to be involved in:Designing and delivering research activity using protein biochemistry and imaging techniquesGenerating, isolating and analysing recombinant and tissue-derived proteinsDeveloping assay systems and contributing to three-dimensional super-resolution imaging approachesAnalysing data, publishing findings and presenting research to academic and project audiencesWhat will you bring to the role?A PhD, or near completion, in a relevant scientific disciplineExperience conducting research projects, including data collection and analysisFamiliarity with microscopy, high-resolution imaging, assay development, molecular biology or protein purificationStrong data processing, communication and organisational skills, with a collaborative approach to researchWhat we can offer in return:As a member of our team, you can expect a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing. Division of Health ResearchGrade 6 - Part-Time (0.50 FTE – 18.25 hours)The National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast (NIHR ARC NWC) is a research initiative designed to support applied health and care research across the North West Coast region, with a focus on reducing health inequalities, knowledge mobilisation and translating evidence into practice. The Community Research Officer role will involve facilitating engagement with Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) organisations across the North West Coast region to build a Network of research-active VSFSE organisations and research-ready communities. Based within the public involvement and engagement team, the Officer will ensure the delivery of the Community Research and Engagement Network (CoREN) objectives and support the commissioning and delivery of research by CoREN members.You will have experience and knowledge of the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector. You must also be able to manage study documentation and excellent report writing skills. You will also have evidence of problem-solving skills and organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise work and navigate time management, with excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbally and in writing.Educated to first degree level or equivalent in a discipline related to health research, you will be computer literate and experienced with basic software packages (Excel, Word), with experience of developing, maintaining and producing information from databases.
