Job Description:

Can you work autonomously and solve complex problems? If you have proven experience of working in a Technical support role and you can support the effective and efficient operation of our general facilities and resources, then this is the perfect role for you.

Working as part of our technical support team you will provide a comprehensive, immediate and specialised support service for staff and students within the school.

You will help to deliver timely, and effective specialised research and teaching support to students, academic and research staff at all levels and visitors.

As Technician (Electronics) you can expect to be involved in:

  • Using your well-developed working technical knowledge to help solve problems independently, maintaining the working environment and raising any complex issues with more senior staff
  • Planning and performing activities independently using a range of techniques, sometimes working from a limited brief
  • Liaising with staff, students and visitors, as well as dealing with routine external service providers to ensure facilities and equipment are kept operational. Working collaboratively with other members of the team
  • Operating technical equipment, assisting staff and students. Undertaking routine maintenance tasks, fault finding and basic repairs.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Educated to A level or equivalent
  • Proven experience of working in a Technical support role with experience using complex technical equipment
  • Relevant theoretical knowledge in a related work area
  • Excellent working knowledge of safety regulations and procedures. For example, risk
  • assessment, COSHH
  • Experience in supporting the procurement of technical equipment. Providing complex
  • equipment and technology advice to students and colleagues.
