Job Description:

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the world-leading Recovery Research Team led by Professor Mike Slade, within the School of Health Sciences, University of Nottingham.

There are 88 Recovery Colleges in England, but only limited research evidence about their effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. The successful candidate will work with Professor Mike Slade and co-PI Prof Claire Henderson (King’s College London) on the NIHR funded RECOLLECT 2 programme grant. Using a mixed-methods design, RECOLLECT 2 aims to understand how Recovery Colleges can provide the most benefit to people who use mental health services. The main focus of this role is to support follow-up data collection with Recovery College students.

Candidates should have a first degree or equivalent in a relevant social science or health related discipline. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of mental health research, an interest in personal recovery, and experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.

The position is full-time (36.25 hours per week) and will be offered on fixed-term contract until 30 November 2025, with the possibility of extension dependent on grant funding. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof Mike Slade ([email protected]) or Dr Mariam Namasaba ([email protected]). Please note that applications sent directly to these email addresses will not be accepted.
