The Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Open SecuRe NeTworks (CDT-FORT) is a groundbreaking initiative funded by EPSRC, bringing together the world-leading expertise of the University of Surrey and Queen’s University Belfast.
Our mission is to create a community of at least 50 postgraduate researchers who will influence the roadmaps of future open networking and security technologies, ensuring that the UK maintains its digital sovereignty in telecommunications and enhances its position as a key player in the global ecosystem.
The Institute of Communication Systems (ICS) home of the 5G/6G Innovation Centres (5G/6GIC) is looking to recruit a CDT-FORT Co-Manager to work in partnership with the CDT-FORT Manager who is based at Queen’s University Belfast.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all day-to-day management and administrative activities on behalf of the University of Surrey and work closely with technical managers, project partners, EPSRC and all other stakeholders, in all matters relating to governance and accountability to funders, researcher experience, training programmes and administrative operational effectiveness.
ICS is the largest academic research institute in Europe specialising in all aspects of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). It is home to over 200 researchers with expertise in all communication and broadcasting systems and has developed the best in class large scale testbeds for research and innovation and enjoys the state-of-the-art lab and computing facilities.
Established in 2012, 5GIC is the world’s first dedicated centre in researching end-to-end aspects of 5G and works closely with national and international leading academic institutes and key industrial partners. In November 2020, 6GIC was officially launched with parallel research undertaken in both 5G+ and 6G for 2030+.
This is a fixed-term opportunity until September 2032.
