The University of Sunderland offers life-changing opportunities for 27,500 students across its campuses in Sunderland, London, Hong Kong, and through global partnerships with learning institutions in 19 countries. We're proud to be a top 50 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2024), with top-quality facilities, inclusive culture, and our vibrant, ever-changing city.

This is an opportunity to join a thriving Undergraduate nursing associate team created due to development of the programme and growth of student numbers.

We have exceptional facilities but also staff development including supported academic study, research development and collaborative working across host NHS Trusts, international travel and academic development related to learning & teaching, student voice and inclusivity. As an awarded University for widening participation, this is fundamental to our Key Performance Indicators and student success.

About the role

Within this role you will effectively support the delivery and continual development of the Undergraduate BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing (Blended) programme, MNurse (Adult), FdSc Nursing Associate provision and related studies and develop learning and teaching related to evidence-based nursing and research theory.

The role will require the appointee to support the Clinical Link Tutor (CLT) provision across Cumbria, the Northeast down to South Tees. You will develop the role in relation to student experience, leadership and learning & teaching excellence but also contribute towards the future Research Excellence Framework and Teaching Excellence Framework.

What you can bring

The successful candidate will be a registered practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and will have experience of supporting nursing students with academic study, practice assessment and pastoral care. You will have teaching and learning experience in a higher education or clinical setting. It is desirable that you have a PGCE (Education) or be willing to undertake one.

What we can offer you

Our University is not just a place of academic excellence, but also a community that embraces inclusivity and support. We value our staff and offer a rewarding package that goes beyond just salary. At the University of Sunderland, we prioritise not only your professional growth but also your happiness and well-being.

Equality, diversity & inclusion

We strongly believe that an inclusive university, where a diverse range of individuals feel valued and have equal opportunity to get into work and reach their potential, is good for our staff, students, university, and society.

Our work on equality, diversity and inclusivity has never been more important. We believe inclusivity is an essential value at the heart of what we do, and we want all our staff to be part of that journey with us.

Our recent staff survey conducted in 2023 showed that 97% of our staff believed that we were committed to achieving an inclusive university.
