Job Description:

Applicants are invited for the position of experienced Technician within the School of Electronics and Computer Science to support the Biomedical Engineering research environment. You will be responsible for organising the day to day running of a busy biomedical engineering research laboratory and be responsible for chemical and biological health and safety. You will also be expected to work in the University Fabrication facilities

You will have minimum skill level equivalent to HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 or equivalent qualification along with proven work experience. You should also demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and independently carry out a range of defined tasks and technical procedures using specialist equipment.

The appointment will be at the TAE (Technical and Experimental) Level 4.

As a Biomedical Electronics technician you will play a vital role in managing a key biomedical research laboratories within the University.

About you

You will have excellent technical and communication skills, with the ability to manage your own workload. You will be a positive and proactive problem solver with the ability to manage a mixture of different tasks ensuing that work is delivered on time and to a high standard. You will be a strong team player, but also be self-sufficient and able to work independently. You will be expected to have experience of managing a laboratory, or similar. Knowledge of health and safety in a laboratory environment is essential. Willingness to be trained in micro and nanofabrication is essential.
