Job Description:
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join Disability Support Services as a permanent part-time Study Support Tutor.
You will work alongside a small team of Study Support Tutors to provide study support to undergraduate and postgraduate students with Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs), including dyslexia, ADHD, DCD / dyspraxia and dyscalculia. You will use student centred methodologies, in both one-to-one and workshop settings. You will enjoy the busy and dynamic environment of the Disability Support Services team, working and collaborating with Disability Advisers, Senior Administrator colleagues and an in-house Support Worker Service.

What you will do:
- Assess the needs of individual students with SpLDs to make recommendations for reasonable adjustments to Academic departments.
- Support students in one-to-one appointments and group events to assist the development of study strategies. Topics may include academic writing, critical and reflective thinking, note taking strategies, organisational skills, examination preparation.
- Liaise with Academic departments to communicate adjustments and advise on complex individual cases, in consultation with role holder’s line manager.
- Advise students on accessing Disabled Students' Allowances.
- Keep careful records of actions, agreements and decisions in accordance with procedures.
You will have:
- Experience in SpLD study support in an Adult or Higher Education setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, with knowledge of assistive technology.
- Ability to work appropriately with sensitive information, following established procedures.
Where and how you’ll work:
This is a permanent full-time role. Working hours are 29 hours per week in a set pattern of 4 standard working days.
We offer a hybrid working arrangement with the blended approach of home and office working in the working week. You will be based at our University Park site and your work may involve working across different campuses.
