The Biophotonics group at Southampton is developing a prototype system for rapid dementia diagnostics. As part of our fast-moving development phase, we are seeking a Research Software Engineer to join our interdisciplinary team on a short-term basis (3 months on full-time or part-time basis). The successful candidate will play a key role in refining and integrating sample preparation capabilities into our prototype system. The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
We are seeking an experienced and strategic International Conversion Lead to develop and deliver university‑wide international applicant‑to‑enrolment conversion strategies.
This is a senior specialist role playing a critical part in strengthening AUT’s international growth, reputation, and applicant experience by optimising conversion pathways from first contact through to enrolment and arrival. Reporting to the Director Student Hub, the International Conversion Lead provides leadership across international conversion activities, working collaboratively with faculties, Brand & Marketing, the International Office, Student Services teams, and external partners.
You will provide practice leadership to the end‑to‑end service design and improvement across the international applicant experience, ensuring a seamless, data‑informed, and student‑centred experience for international applicants and their influencers.
Key responsibilities include:
Development and optimisation, of a university‑wide international conversion service delivery model
Leadership and coordination of applicant‑facing conversion initiatives aligned with the AUT brand
Monitoring and tracking data and information, reporting trends, and providing insights
Development and maintenance of strong partnerships with key stakeholders

You will be a confident, analytical, and relationship‑focused professional with a strong track record in international education, service design, or conversion‑focused roles.
In addition, you will:
hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum six years’ relevant experience
strong understanding of higher education admissions, fees, enrolment, and conversion systems
strong analytical capability and confidence using data to inform decisions

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Research Associate/Fellow to work with our lithium-sulfur battery team as part of the Faraday Institution LiStar project. Candidates must have (or almost completed) a PhD in physical chemistry, synthetic chemistry, electrochemistry, materials chemistry, or a related discipline. The candidate will work within the Nottingham Applied Materials and Interfaces Group at the University of Nottingham, reporting to Dr Lee Johnson, Dr Graham Newton, and Dr Darren Walsh. The lithium-sulfur battery is very promising for our future energy-storage requirements, as it has the potential to exceed the specific energy of the lithium-ion battery. However, the performance of the battery is limited due to incomplete conversion of sulfur and low-rate capability. The project will focus on the development of electrolytes and additives that enable high performance. We encourage applicants with a range of skill sets to apply. The Faraday Institution is the UK’s independent institute for electrochemical energy storage science and technology, supporting research, training, and analysis.
